Friday I had the pleasure of seeing Much Ado About Nothing performed on ZACH’s Kleberg stage. The performance was put on by the Pre Professional Company. A new batch of talented kids from Austin. The play was directed by Kate Shaw-Nappi. The kids do an incredible job with Shakespeare’s play of love, jealousy, lies and betrayal. The setting is a prep school during the 1940’s as World War II has just ended. The play is funny, colorful and the cast is delightful.
I wish these performances ran longer. Much Ado About nothing gives its final performance tonight at 7 PM.
Ryan Mills plays Claudio, Leonela Hernandez as Leonata, Patrick Bell as Borachio, Ivan Acosta as Don John, Hollis McNutt as Don Pedro, Tyra Williams as Margaret, Conrad Rippy as Benedick, Miles Vander Vennet as Verges, Julia Patterson as Beatrice, Kyla Barnett as Antonia and Cecile McWilliams at her daughter. All of the kids are really wonderful in this production.
