City of Sin
If you like Graphic novels, then you're gonna enjoy Sin City. It's one of the most realistic comic book, graphic novels to come to the screen since Creepshow. The film is filled with special effects. Lots of interesting angles, sexual situations and many surprises. It is a bit violent and gory. Quentin Tarantino manages to create something new, in the credits he is listed as special guest director. You can actually tell how he influcenced the film. The film stars, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen, Brittany Murphy, Rutger Hauer, who I met and photographed my second year in Seattle and Elijah Wood, in his first bad guy role. I recommend this film highly, for laughs and just a cool flick to see with a friend. Thanks for stopping by, keep an open mind.

The death scene
In most movies there is usually a death scene. Sometimes its the basis of the film and sometimes its just very sublte. Like in Making Love or Cinema Paradiso. In the movies we usually get a flash back sequence like that in Death in Venice. In real life we have to do our own reflecting of the life of a person sometimes close to us and in other instances someone we barely knew. I don't look at it as an ending, but a new beginning. Life and death, why are we here and why do we have to leave? Questions that don't seem to have any right or wrong answers. Thanks for stopping by, keep an open mind.

Is it real or is it Memorex?
That used to be one of my favorite lines. In this technological age that we live in, things are rapidly changing. Changing so fast, that we don't always know what is and isn't real. You can now watch a television program and stop it, pause it, get rid of the commercials and come back to it again. Something is wrong with this picture. You can play tricks on your family and friends by knowing what's going to happen because you've already memorized the program. Even the media can mess with our minds and make us believe things that may or may not be true. Like everything, there is good and bad. In the film Capricorn One, which starred James Brolin, Hal Holbrook, O.J. Simpson and Sam Waterson, we are face with questions on what if... Did they or didn't they... What we see isn't always real and film is the perfect way to fool us. This weeks movies will be: Drunks, which stars Faye Dunaway and Richard Lewis, Gothika, which stars Halle Berry and Robert Downey, Jr., The Low Life, which stars Sean Astin and Rory Cochran, Monster and Mighty Joe Young which both star the lovely, Cherlize Theron.
I've been listening to Eric Benet and I keep wondering how does a guy, any guy cheat on a woman like Halle Berry? I wouldn't care if she were a lesbian I wouldn't divorce her. As long as she isn't an abusive woman, someone that looks that good, can't be that bad. Just had to throw my thoughts in on that. Thanks for stopping by, keep an open mind.

Stealing Beauty
The film Stealing Beauty is an interesting story of a young girl who comes to spend the summer with a family she hasn't seen in years. Now that she's all grown up, everyone sees her sexual awakening. The chase begins to take her innocense surrounded by artists and beauty. Here are some celebrity photos that are a part of my collection. I will post some of the photos I have taken of celebrities in the future. 1) Brad Davis, he has such a way of communicating with the camera. His career was short, but very crucial. He will be known for his role in Midnight Express, but appeared in many films and TV specials, including Roots and Chariots of Fire. His drug addiction killed him and his career. 2) The Angels, this was my show growing up as a teenager. T&A TV as it was called. (Tits and ass, for those of you not familiar with the term.) My favorite angel was Jacklyn Smith, I think it was the walk and the smile, she played, Kelly Garret. and Kate Jackson played Sabrina Duncan. I wasn't really a fan of Farrah Fawcett who played Jill Monroe. 3)Michael Ontkean in a scene from Making Love 4) Harry Hamlin in a scene from Making Love 5) What's this? A sneak into the fetish world...It's actually one scene from the SIFF program cover of 1993 6) King Kong, the remake Thanks for stopping by, keep and open mind and stop back often

Blinded
I finally got to watch the film Ray. Jamie Foxx did deserve is Oscar for this role. It was Kerry Washington that really made me interested in seeing this film as well as Regina King. A lot of Ray was filmed in New Orleans. The Half Moon bar, the Gentilly neighborhood, the Orpheum and the Saenger both appear in the film as concert halls in other cities. A lot of the interiors of Seattle and New York are also filmed in New Orleans. The magic of Hollywood, it really is a world of make believe. Back in 1995 I believe, my best friend lost his eye sight. Ray Charles lost his sight at the age of 7, but my friend was a young adult when he lost his sight in a car accident. We were very close and I wasn't sure I could handle seeing him, but things worked out good. It made me a stronger person. I was amazed at how well he dealt with the situation. We never know how things will turn out and sometimes we say things to ourselves, if that had happened to me I don't know if I could make it. Of course we don't know until it happens. But being blind or having any type of handicap does not stop a person from living a good healthy life. Mentally, spiritually and sexually. To see him manuever in his 5 story home you would never guess that he was blind. Everything has to be carefully choreographed so that he can get around. His cats wore bells so he'd know where they were so he would not walk on them. But things happen over time. Just as Ray Charles didn't want to be left out in the pleasures his band members enjoyed he got hooked on smack, but he had his music to keep him busy. My friend had film, but I guess the drive wasn't there. I'm not sure what happened, but I had to accept the circumstances. That's what life is about. We take things for the way they are and we move on. But I always leave that window slightly opened. If you should rent or purchase Ray, some DVDs have the feature of extended play. It includes the scenes that were cut from the film. This will play differently on different DVD players. So don't think something is wrong with your player. It's the DVD. Thanks for stopping by, keep an open mind. Film pictures are coming soon. This weeks films, Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise, Das Boot, Platoon, The Game, The War of the Roses, and Forest Gump

Do you have the juice?
In the film Juice we get a taste of a group of basically good kids, trying to get their lives together and status in their hood. (Short for neighborhood for those of you not into the slang.) This was Tupac Shakur's first film. He did a very good job as the kid who was labeled crazy and took it to the extreme. Life meant nothing to this character. So taking a life was very easy. Although we don't know what brought him to this point we can only make an assumption. But that wouldn't be fare. There are many men who come from poverty, single parent homes, drug users and gangs that rise above it. It's worth a look if you haven't seen it. Thanks for stopping by. Keep an open mind. I've known a few gang members, one when I lived in LA and a few locals. It's just something that people fall into. Sometimes you have no choice.

Movies, Movies, Movies
Die Nibelungen, is Fritz Lang’s complete five hour epic, which has been restored by the Munich film archive. The film also includes the original 1924 orchestral score. I still have not sat down to watch Metropolis, but I will soon. What I found interesting about this film is the progression in the story telling and the special effects. Though this is a silent film, the use for dialogue isn’t always necessary as Fritz Lang shows us. In Seigfried, we get the set up of the cantro, and then there are one or two scenes that may have dialogue that is flashed upon the screen after.
The set design and costumes are very art deco which adds a different take on this classic story. There were moments when I wished this film were in color just so I could see the working of the geometric designs and whether or not they were colorful or in black and white. The soldiers fighting gear looked like combinations of 70’s garb which is where the inspiration probably came from. The patterns and colors of the 70’s broke the rules of fashion. Some of which most of us would like to forget. Can you remember double knit polyester?
If you have the time and patience I recommend you take a couple of days and watch Die Nibelungen which is the story of Siegfried and Kriemhild’s Revenge. Seigfried is 143 minutes long and Kriemhild’s Revenge is 148 minutes long. Each is told in seven Cantro’s, which is a fantasy world of the old and the new. It’s quite entertaining and risqué for its time. Thanks for stopping by, keep an open mind.

Should we talk about masturbation?
Masturbation has been covered in many films. It has to be subtle because this is still a very touchy subject. Pun intended, LOL. In the film Spanking the Monkey, it is the focus of the story of a young man caring for his mother who has injured her leg. Outside of porn films there have been very few films where we see women indulging in the act of self pleasure. Once again Jennifer Jason Leigh does an incredible job in the film Single White Female. One of my all time favorite masturbation seens comes from the film Chain of Desire. The scene is shot beautifully as three people watch each other from their apartment windows and join in this safe activity. Masturbation and voyeurism combined. In the film Bent we get a descriptive visual of the act of sexual masturbation and the same in the film Cool Hand Luke. George Kennedy talks about his Lucille, referring to the young lady who washes her car as the prisoners look on in agony. It's an intense visual with much energy and explosion as the act itself. Thanks for stopping by, Keep an open mind.

Things happen for a reason
In film, things happen to keep our interest. There has to be some sort of conflict, romance or a good story to keep us in our seat and our eyes glued to the screen.Whether a film is good or bad, it gives us something to talk about. So, the film is actually made for a reason. Just like this entry, gives you something to talk about. Thanks for stopping by.

Only the strong survive
In the recent events of the Schaivo episode we all must think about our rights and our purpose. I watched the film Dinosaurs last night. It's a remarkable Disney film. Computer animation at its best. Although the film deals with the survival of the fittest, it also gives us the message that we don't give up on the aged. Everyone has a purpose in life and we must cherish the time we have with others. We never know when we will see them for the last time. If you have not seen Dinosaurs check it out. And remember if you don't like to rent movies, you can always check them out from the library, free of charge. You'd be surprised at the selection that can be found there. Thanks for stopping by, keep an open mind and tell someone you love them today.
